Addressing Nashville's Big Challenges: Where Do Young Professionals Fit In?
In the nonprofit sector, are we solving problems as they appear? Or are we disrupting the systems that created those problems in the first place? By thinking big, we are “looking upstream” and creating change on a wider scale. But as young professionals, it can be challenging to interrupt the status quo. Join us for this conversation about systems change, social entrepreneurship, and how YNP’s can fit in to the big picture.
This session's facilitator is Scott Schumann of the new social enterprise Tipping Futures. In looking upstream, Scott is truly walking the walk. Scott created Tipping Futures when he noticed a huge need in Nashville: when placing people in affordable housing, nonprofits do not have a reliable source of furniture. Scott and his team are working to solve this issue by opening Nashville’s first and only furniture bank. At this YNP session, learn more about the work of Tipping Futures and about big-pictures ideas of social entrepreneurship in the21st century. Beer, wine, and snacks are included in the registration price.
