2007: Year in Review

Nearly recovered from my Thanksgiving food coma, I believe we all begin to see the final chapter of 2007 unfold. This has been another exciting and, at times, stressful year for Nashville, our community and young professionals. We elected a new mayor, celebrated retaining the Predators (keeping our fingers crossed) and the opening of numerous new downtown condos, new bars and restaurants reinvigorating the experience of living and playing in our city's core. No longer do we read daily about the antics of Pacman Jones, nor receive monotone voicemails from political candidates.

More of us are working, living and playing downtown than ever before, creating a new excitement and energy for Nashville that is palpable. Are you a part of this energy? From a YP perspective, many of you have gotten more involved, experienced more treasures of Middle Tennessee, and hopefully found some new avenues to give back. The partnership among the Nashville Chamber and 20/20 Leadership Alliance continues to strengthen with our inaugural Nashville Emerging Leader Awards, honoring our peers who have balanced a successful career and managed to leave a profound impact upon our community through their tireless efforts.

We must live in the moment. Make the most of these last weeks in 2007, laugh with new and old friends alike, give a little of yourself to others in their time of need and never forget to smile. Looking towards the future, in 2008 we will deliver new and exciting programs to connect YPs, learn from one another and raise our collective voice. I hope you will join us and re-commit to engaging yourself, using your talents to ensure Nashville becomes the city we all desire.
