NELAs Winner Feedback

Why should Nashville young professionals apply for the NELAs?

Winner or not, the experience is very rewarding from the application process to the networking and the people you meet throughout the way.
Ben Hanback: 2008 Business NELA recipient

It is a great way to get your name into new/different circles in the community. You join the best of the best from all industries in town, which is a great way to meet great people and share best practices.
Cristina Welhoelter: 2008 Technology NELA recipient

Participation in the NELA awards gives young professionals the opportunity to network with peers who are leaders in their individual areas of expertise. It is an opportunity not only to share your experiences and achievements but learn from your peers' experiences and achievements.
Sara Snodgrass: 2008 Architecture, Engineering, and Construction NELA recipient

The NELA application process is thrilling because you can ask someone you highly respect to write about you and you get to fill out the application yourself and get a thorough self-perspective on what you do for your profession and the community, giving you a feeling of self-confidence of all you do once you take time to think about it -- leading to a pat on your back regardless of the outcome. Of course if you win, the experience is so rewarding and offers even further accolades and doors for networking opportunities.
Laurel Creech: 2007 Community Service and Nonprofit NELA recipient

What did it mean to you to receive a NELA?

Receiving a NELA was awesome. It was a wonderful feeling to know that you were chosen as winner. In addition, it is humbling to be in competition with such top-notch talent.
Connie W. Kinnard: 2008 Hospitality and Tourism NELA recipient

I felt very appreciative and humbled to be recognized, especially when I considered the talents and contributions of the other nominees. Of course, it's wonderful to be honored and to hear that other professionals believe you're on the right path, doing the right things, making real contributions to our shared community. In addition to being a very individual moment of personal and professional joy, it was an opportunity to invite, hopefully inspire, everyone to become more involved in the good works and amazing missions I'm passionate about.
Nancy Denning-Martin: 2008 Community Service and Nonprofit NELA recipient

It meant the world to me. I was not expecting to win. As a new Nashvillian, it showed me that everything is not about who you know. At the end of the day, you are measured by your impact on the lives of others.
Christina A. Coleman: 2008 Government NELA recipient

How has winning a NELA enhanced your Nashville experience, uplifted your career, or given you an opportunity you did not have before?

I feel like it helped our company continue to gain traction as a great firm in our industry. It certainly helped in my career to reach new audiences and potential customers, as well as to receive more positive PR for the company.
Anthony Davis: 2008 PR, Advertising, & Marketing NELA recipient

As far as enhancing my Nashville experience, attending the awards ceremony and hearing what all of the honorees are achieving and how they are striving to improve the Nashville community humbled me and made me proud to be a part of this community.
Dr. Michel McDonald: 2008 Medical and Health Care Services NELA recipient

I have received endless congratulations and compliments after receiving the award. Doors have opened for me for networking and professional and personal opportunities.
Laurel Creech: 2007 Community Service and Nonprofit NELA recipient

I absolutely love Nashville. To be celebrated with such an honor in such a progressive city is energizing. The NELA experience has also made me more aware of the activities and agendas of both the Chamber of Commerce and YP Nashville. I look forward to giving back and being more involved in both of these organizations.
Christina A. Coleman: 2008 Government NELA recipient
