| Description: | | What is Gen C?
The Nature Conservancy's Generation Conservation group (Gen C) brings together a cross-section of Nashville's brightest men and women who share a love of nature, a concern for the environment, and a belief that hope and action are indispensible for making a difference. Our goal is to ensure that our peers and the next generation of Tennesseans learn about and participate in conservation at a local, regional, and global level. Who is Gen C?
Intended for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, Gen C will host events throughout the year, including hikes, nature preserve trips, and cocktail parties in Nashville and beyond. Many of Gen C's activities will be open to anyone who is interested, though a number of events are exclusive to members only, including preserve trips and events hosted by Conservancy Trustees.
Potential Gen C members may already spend time in Tennessee's natural areas. They may hike, canoe, climb, bike, or fish. They may already be well versed in market-based approaches to conservation, like mitigation banking and carbon sequestration. They may already know that Tennessee is the most biologically diverse inland state, that our state has more than 9,200 caves sheltering literally millions of bats of 15 different species, and that the Duck River has more varieties of fish and mussels than all European rivers combined. Or they may simply be interested in learning such things. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. |

| Description: | | Nashville Emerging Leaders (NEL) was founded in 2002 by a group of motivated and passionate young professionals who wanted to create an organization dedicated to the ongoing development, advancement and interaction of emerging leaders in our community. NEL enables young leaders to learn from local mentors and peers while developing their leadership skills, exploring issues impacting our community, and creating a collective and powerful voice to promote change. An emerging leader is an individual who has demonstrated the desire and capacity to provide the vision and stewardship necessary to advance, inspire, and lead others in some dimension of their civic or professional life. Through a series of sessions involving the development of leadership skills, training modules, and the exploration of community issues, NEL members will advance their proficiency and personal understanding of Nashville's underlying dynamics. Engaging senior leaders from whom to learn and interaction among group members will serve as primary tenets in our activities. Understanding oneself and one’s leadership style is fundamental to improving one's leadership skills. The NEL curriculum provides participants an opportunity to obtain a better understanding of their leadership motivation, styles and attitudes, which impact their leadership capabilities. Through proven assessments and interactive exercises, class members gain perspective not only about themselves, but also how to communicate effectively and motivate others. |

| Description: | | Our mission: "To significantly impact the direction of our community's youth by raising funds in a social setting that challenges young professional men to be community leaders."
The Phoenix Club of Nashville kicked off with its inaugural lunch in 2000 and has gained recognition and support from the leadership community. With effort in this exciting initiative, members make long-lasting friendships while giving back to the Nashville community. Men invited to join have always been required to meet two basic requirements: a sincere interest in furthering the goals of the Phoenix Club itself, and potential for future leadership in the community.
For close to a decade, the Phoenix Club has been a good mix of hard work and hard play benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. Since its humble beginnings, the Phoenix Club has helped support the Boys and Girls Clubs, and has grown to provide annual endowments for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee. We strive to provide a funding mechanism to help alter the course of our disadvantaged youth while developing lasting friendships in the young professional ranks of Middle Tennessee. The Phoenix Club is a dynamic cross-section of young professionals. Among Phoenix Club alumni in Nashville are countless nonprofit board members, community leaders, businessmen, entrepreneurs, bankers, sales professionals, attorneys, architects, engineers, developers, insurers, accountants, and physicians.
While this club continues to take on a character and life all its own, it is based on principles that have changed the lives of young children in Tennessee for over half a century. Membership enables formation of lifelong personal and professional friendships. |

| Description: | | The Southeastern Young Alumni Charitable Foundation was formed by several young alumni of the various schools within the Southeastern Conference. Our goal is to raise money for pediatric cancer research. The Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt was chosen as the benefactor of our efforts for various reasons. First and foremost, The Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is one of the nation's best pediatric hospitals for researching methodologies to cure and treat cancer in children and adolescents. It is exciting to know that we can impact one of the best pediatric hospitals in the world, support an SEC affiliate in Vanderbilt University, and see our efforts impacting the Nashville region. Like anyone who has been impacted by cancer, we aspire to be a very small part of finding a cure.
To this cause, we have created an annual benefit event called The Affair to Care. Young professionals from all around Nashville and across the Southeast are invited to be a part of this event and give back to the community. |

Founded in 1998 by fifteen young Nashville residents, The Tomorrow Fund brings together individuals representing a wide range of community service involvement, levels of education and work experience from throughout the country. The Tomorrow Fund provides its members with opportunities for personal growth and development while making valuable contributions to the community around them. With annual contributions, members and donors generate money to support annual grants to non-profits throughout Middle Tennessee and to build an endowment as a permanent source of income for the future. The endowment is created with gifts of cash, stocks, or property donated to the Tomorrow Fund. The grant spending level of the Tomorrow Fund will be determined each year by the Investment and Finance Committee of The Community Foundation. Spending levels generally range between 4-6% of the Fund to help ensure continuity of the Fund. In conjunction with our grantmaking, service projects are organized throughout the year to offer members a variety of opportunities to participate in hands-on projects giving back to the community. Together, the service and grantmaking provide opportunities for Tomorrow Fund members to develop leadership skills that will benefit the community for years to come. |

| Description: | | In 1985, Young Leaders Council (YLC) was created by the Council of Community Services, the HCA Foundation and the United Way to address the need to broaden and strengthen Nashville's volunteer leadership base. By training men and women between the ages of 25 to 39 years to effectively participate on the boards of nonprofit organizations, tomorrow's leaders could make a difference in the community today. Participants in the YLC training program come from diverse corporate, civic, and volunteer backgrounds. Not only does Young Leaders Council empower these young professionals with fundamental board skills, nonprofit organizations benefit from a fresh leadership base with knowledge and resources they would not ordinarily have access to. To graduate from the training program, a YLC class participant must attend 11 weekly workshops, followed by a one-year internship on a nonprofit board of their choosing. In the 25 years since its founding, more than 1,800 YLC graduates have served on the boards of nearly 150 nonprofit agencies in the Nashville area. |
