Description:

|
Nashville Emerging Leaders (NEL) was founded in 2002 by a group of motivated and passionate young professionals who wanted to create an organization dedicated to the ongoing development, advancement and interaction of emerging leaders in our community. NEL enables young leaders to learn from local mentors and peers while developing their leadership skills, exploring issues impacting our community, and creating a collective and powerful voice to promote change.
An emerging leader is an individual who has demonstrated the desire and capacity to provide the vision and stewardship necessary to advance, inspire, and lead others in some dimension of their civic or professional life. Through a series of sessions involving the development of leadership skills, training modules, and the exploration of community issues, NEL members will advance their proficiency and personal understanding of Nashville’s underlying dynamics. Engaging senior leaders from whom to learn and interaction among group members will serve as primary tenets in our activities.
Understanding oneself and one’s leadership style is fundamental to improving one’s leadership skills. The NEL curriculum provides participants an opportunity to obtain a better understanding of their leadership motivation, styles and attitudes, which impact their leadership capabilities. Through proven assessments and interactive exercises, class members gain perspective not only about themselves, but also how to communicate effectively and motivate others.
