Event: Hiking/swimming trip to Laurel Falls
Description: Join the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Natural Areas Program at 9 a.m. for hiking and swimming at Laurel Falls. Cool off from the summer heat on one of our most popular hikes in the spectacular pocket wilderness of Laurel-Snow. We'll start from the parking area and hike to Laurel Falls and then up to the Raven Point Overlook, where we'll have our lunch. On the way back down the trail, we'll go to the "super pool" on Henderson Creek, and have a swim. Bring a swim float! This hike is about six miles round trip and part of it, near the falls, is very steep. We'll take our time to accommodate novice hikers. This will be a leisure trip to enjoy the cool water in the heat of the summer. Wear sturdy boots, bring your own lunch and water, and be prepared to get wet in the creek. If it rains (thunderstorms), we won't go, so please RSVP in advance and provide your contact information so we can reach you in case of cancellation. Space is limited to the first 10 respondents. Event: Star Party at Edwin Warner Park
Description: Get "starstruck!" Enjoy the night sky and some stargazing with fellow Belmont alumni, and meet Janet from Janet's Planet. This series of free "star parties" is sponsored by the Adventure Science Center and the Barnard-Seyfert Astronomical Society. Please RSVP in advance to receive directions, maps and supplies. Event: Full Moon Hike
Description: Join Team Green for a moonlight stroll at Edwin Warner Park once a month during the full moon! We'll hike approximately 4.5 miles on a paved path, so bring your walking or hiking shoes, plenty of water, friends, and family. We will be at Pavilion #9 off Vaughn Road. Drive past the nature center to the very back pavilion. This event is free and open to the public.
